Note: for aquid 3.0STABLE21 header_access (even though it says in the documentation it's there, I had to read the release notes) was replaced with request_header_access

The new flash errors (“You are trying to install Adobe Flash Player on an unsupported operating system.”) are caused by all the sites upgrading to requiring Adobe Flash version 10. Right now, the PS3 only has Flash version 9, so you can't watch videos on more and more web sites. (The number of sites requiring 10 increases daily, but they now include sling.com, hulu.com, fox.com, nbc.com, etc.)

And no, there is no way for you to update the version of flash on your PS3 on your own. It will have to be a system update from Sony. Given that Flash 10 came out the same day that Sony released Flash 9 for the PS3, I wouldn't hold your breath. Sony does NOT appear to be in a hurry to upgrade us all so we can actually use the internet. (I guess I can't _really_ complain, Flash 9 is still better than flash on an iPhone, i.e. no Flash at all.)

For anyone asking something to this effect, "How do I get around the 'You are trying to install Adobe Flash Player on an unsupported operating system...' error message?"

Until Sony releases a new version of PS3 firmware with a Flash player upgrade, you can't. Just hope they're working on it. Or Flash dies and they implement H.264 video.

BTW, Sling is just pointing to Hulu's content for certain shows (which is certainly the case with "Lost"). That means if you can't watch it on Hulu, then you can't watch it on Sling.

I got PS3 internet connection working through proxy using directions :) but getting bumped by hulu with same platform message

“You are trying to install Adobe Flash Player on an unsupported operating system..”.

Any recommendations on what to check?

That should not be so pain in the butt to watch whatever you would like on your PS3. It is like buying a car and being restricted to only drive in you state. That sucks

The squid workaround is definitely broken now. Both sling and hulu give the “You are trying to install Adobe Flash Player on an unsupported operating system..”.

I can confirm this trick works on Leopard. you can run squid in the background on your Mac as well. Do "sudo port install squid" in Terminal and then do a "sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.Squid.plist" as suggested to launch squid as superuser when the computer starts. Then restart and... voila...

Oh, and same results as everybody on the hulu flash issue recently. (Sling.com does seem to work though, even for Hulu vidos.)

I'm getting the same results as you Mike. Squid was working, but as of yesterday I get a gray box stating that I'm trying "to install Adobe Flash Player on an unsupported operating system...." I've tried changing agent strings to potentially a HW/SW platform that doesn't support the version of Adobe they want to force an upgrade of, but no luck yet.
